Pabitra Buragohain

Shri Pabitra Buragohain is a first generation entrepreneur and son of a school teacher from Sivasagar. He pursued M.Com and MBA from Guahati University. His humble background familiarised him with the struggles of rural weavers, including his own mother, with poor quality yarn. This influenced his decision to venture into the textiles sector. The quality yarn produced in his industry has been contributing towards commercialisation of the handloom sector in Northeast. He is a two time National Award winner from MSME, Govt. of India. He was President of FINER (Federation of Industries and Commerce of North Eastern Region) for 6 years, during which he was a Member in MSME Board (Govt. of India), was part of FICCI’s Executive Committee and represented the organisation in NITI Aayog. He was part of the business team to Thailand and Bangladesh and led the FINER delegation to Japan. His success in the last 25 years, often featured in print and electronic media, is an inspiration for aspiring entrepreneurs.
